April 2 2017 Cabbagetown and Riverdale

  • 19km of walking in Cabbagetown and Riverdale
  • 5 Little Libraries
  • 3 cafes (Jet Fuel, Sumach, Riverdale)
  • Lots of beautiful Victorian era houses

Walked over to Wellesley St E in Cabbagetown, from the Castle Frank subway station.

Interesting alleyway house
so we went in for a closer look

A garage sale on Wellesley East.
Pointing at a paint-by-numbers painting.

Another interesting alleyway house.

Sign indicating that the alley is the way to the
Wellesley Cottages

What an amazing hidden street of
tiny workers' cottages. Very hygge.
It turns out that these are like Tardis houses--
little on the outside, big  inside.

Alpha Avenue.
A little dead end street with 19th century

We stumbled upon this Little Free Library.

Left the book Cool Water

at Sumach and Wellesley East

Fresh Air Lane
Liked the name of this Cabbagetown laneway

Lattes at JetFuel at 519 Parliament.
If you go:
bring cash,
they don't have a menu,
and they don't do skim milk.
But the lattes were quite good.

These outdoor stairs remind us of Montreal

Riverside Farm themed painted utility box

425 Sackville St
Sackville and Winchester

Borrowed Zoobiquity.
One sister recommended it,
so the other sister borrowed it.
A sweet sheep at the Riverdale Farm

Hugging a goat

Old stone silo at Riverdale Farm

I really liked these
pink/purple lights--they look like spring blossoms.

383 Sackville St
Another one on Sackville Street
Left There's a Chance I'm Going to Hell book
that was borrowed from
the little library on Innisfree Court

The King of Casa Loma
Didn't borrow it, but liked seeing it in a Toronto Little Library.

STOP--EATING ANIMALS
308 Sackville St
One more on Sackville
The roof is made of flattened (now faded) coca cola cans and
flowers made from aluminum cans.

This was a surprise.

Another coffee pit stop at Sumach Espresso,
118 Sumach Street

A bear wood carving on a lawn.

An eye-catching very green display
of boston ivy on a huge tree

Stopped for a rest break at Riverdale Perk Cafe,
633 Logan Ave

Matcha lattes at Riverdale Perk Cafe

A very polite and pleasant flower box

69 Lewis St
The last little library find.
On Lewis Street, spotted it from Queen Street.

The beautifully painted King St support holding up Richmond St E

This support is holding up Adelaide St E

More beautiful support for Adelaide Street East

18.85km walk as we got to the
Yonge subway station
