Danforth Area Little Libraries January 21 2017

Danforth area little library finds
Started with this map of 9 Little Libraries

Ended up finding 15
  • 5 hours of walking with our 2 dogs
  • 20,000 steps, 13km
  • Area covered: Pape to Coxwell along the Danforth
  • Two coffee breaks - Red Rocket (delicious smooth coffee)
    and Timothy's (mmmm coconut coffee)
  • Set out to find 9 Little Free Libraries. Found 15 in total.
  • Met some great people - 2 owners, a friendly dog lady
and saw protestors with placards (the global women's march was on downtown)
  • Picked up a book, left a cookbook and a lot of Walking Sisters booklets
  • A grey day but spring-like temperatures, +7C! No gloves or hats.

We started Little Libraries picked up from this Danforth article:
and on the
LittleFreeLibrary.org map

Photos:

111 Fulton

Took Deafening because one of the sisters is deaf
and left a cookbook because one of the sisters is a great cook

Left a Walking Sisters booklet.
We parked the car by this library and
when we returned 5 hours later
we looked inside and the booklet was gone :)

31 Muriel

What a surprise, a geocache in the Muriel little library.
It had fallen from it's hook under the roof.

35 Eaton Ave
We stumbled upon this while on the way
 to Langford Avenue

98 Langford
The smallest box we have visited
137 Langford Ave

Just a few doors down on Langford
was this leafy painted hydro pole

84 Caithness Ave
165 Glebeholme Ave

50 Wolverleigh Ave

We liked the title of this book in the
Wolverleigh Little Library.
We didn't read it.

18 Linsmore Cres
The owner of the Wolverleigh box
told us about this Little Free Library

277 Strathmore Blvd

391 Milverton Blvd

756 Rhodes Ave
There was a very handsome and amazing husband
at this Little Library. He handcrafted this little library
out of metal for his wife's very special birthday. He even cut
those decorative windows in to the sides of the metal box.
We gave him a Walking Sisters booklet
to give to his wife and told him about our blog.
Before we left, he let us know about another box just down the
street. So off we went for some more walking
and another LFL to add to the map.
600 Rhodes Ave
The little library the nice husband
up the street told us about

127 Parkmount

Another Walking Sisters blank booklet

155 Lamb Ave
Outside an art shop
Our last one for the day

The fuzzy fitbit says 13.25km. :)

Iceland Penny's Walking Blog

WALKING WOMAN
https://icelandpenny.wordpress.com

I found Iceland Penny's blog a couple of weeks ago. It inspired me to start our own walking blog. I like her blog because it's mostly about walks in Toronto and the cool things she discoveries. Each post includes lots of photos. The things she finds fascinating are the kinds of things we like too - artsy unusual things. For example, January 4's post features this cool construction fence mural:

"Not A Fordest," Darren Rigo, 58 Wellesley St. East

If you read the blog post she goes in to more detail about the photographer and the artist who inspired the photo mural.
